I cannot believe how big the osaka sky line and buildings are. It’s actually crazy to me everytime I see it. It’s very beautifal and it makes me think about life so much and contemplate when I see it. So many big buildings you’d be surprised. Tokyo is even bigger but Osaka and Nagoya are great too for night views of the city.
I often go with my girlfriend to a really nice cafe that is on the 34th floor of a main building in the Umeda area of Osaka. It’s so nice and romantic there and you get a great view. The only weird thing is that they charge about 10 dollars for a beer but it’s worth the view so we just sip slow and chill out!
In Japan they say thank you or “arigatou” so often that you would be very surprised. It’s funny to me but it’s also kind of nice to hear thank you for everthing you do.
You want to hear a funny story? I went in quickly to a cafe to use their washroom. I didn’t buy anything just used the washroom and then on my way out everyone started yelling “arigatou” at the top of their lungs. I thought they were just joking around but actually they were serious and it’s so funny to me to think that they would do that.
Coming from cities like Toronto in canada where no one says anything it’s neat. Even if you pay people money at a shop back home it’s hard to get a nice thank you out of them…..
Today when I was walking around downtown Osaka I found a store full of florida furniture and design elements. Honestly I was shocked to see this. So funny but true. Anyway I went in and they had all kinds of chairs, patio furniture, sofas, bedroom items and more.
The weirdest part about it for me that it was in the middle of Japan and I found furniture from florida. It was even highly discounted so that surprised me too.
Anyway I’ll definiately go back to this furniture store especially now that I bought a new place here and I’m sure I’ll be home sick of florida so i want to get that kind of furniture I’m sure.
I also wanted to let you guys know that if you’re into design in Japan then you should check out a japan design blog I found it’s amazing and has all sorts of info about design, patterns, furniture, etc in Nippon!
I don’t know about you guys but do you like living in huge cities?
Sometimes it can be a great experience and then other times not.
Some of the goods of city life in japan is that it’s convienient, lots of cool people, good live music events, and tons of restaurants and bars.
The bad side is that the trains are always crowded during rush hour, the rent can be expensive in nice areas, and people are not as friendly.
Overall though I would have to say that living in a big city like Osaka is much better for me then living in the country side of Japan. It would just be so so boring I think to be living there.
Well another crazy story from this side. This time I went out for sushi with some friends and they took me to a place called a kaiten sushi restaurant.
Basically it’s a conveyor belt with sushi moving around and around. Pretty crazy huh? yeah it is so crazy because you can choose what ever it is you want.
You can also yell out to the master chef what kind of fish you want to eat if you don’t see it there.
One of the techniques that I use is always order it actually. Because if you do that you can always get fresh fish instead of ones that have been moving around the conveyor belt for hours.
The food experience in this country is seriously insane! Not only is it food but it’s all about design here. Just the way they design things is crazy. It’s funny because a buddy of mine even started a blog and web design company out here which is worth checking out 英語 ウェブサイト 制作
Well it’s another friday night in Osaka city and tonight I’m going out to a DVD premier that my friend is releasing. He is a famous skate board film maker and skater himself and tonight is his premier of a DVD in Oska and Tokyo that he recently did.
He is so skilled and everytime we go out we always have lots of fun and drink different types of japanese sake and schochu. Do you know what schochu is? It’s a great type of japanese alcohol and it’s so good but it does take time to get used to it for sure. At first I didn’t like it.
Anyway it’s funny because japanese clubs and hotspots only start to warm up later in the night in Japan. So tonight for example I’m here writing some posts on my blog and waiting for him to get ready. My girl isn’t coming tonight since she worked all day and now she’s tired.
Anyway tonight is hip hop and house music so I’m sure we’ll have a great time! there will be lots of cool japanese people there and I’ll get to talk to them all about the country and music scene as well as meet cool skateboarders.
See you soon!
You guys every heard of Ramen? It’s a chinese noodle soup but only sold in Japan from what i know. It’s so so good and it’s easy to find. I love Ramen. My friends often go to ramen shops after nights out on the town.
Basically it’s famous in japan because each region has it’s own kind of ramen and all sorts of flavour too. It’s usually pork flavoured soup or soya sauce. Either way it’s tasty, delicious, and great. I truly love it.
The price is about $6 for a nice steaming bowl and it comes with all the garneshings inside. Egg, green onions, delicious slices of pork, and much more. Do you guys have ramen shops where you come from?
In America and Canada I remember eating noodle soup but honestly you haven’t tasted a bowl of noodles until you’ve had real ramen. Another cool thing is these shops are usually open 24hours a day! Osaka is the best I love it and I love the food here!
So I was out again in my area today looking for a great sushi shop. I live in Osaka as I’ve said in the past and it’s amazing how good and cheap the food out here is. The one thing is it’s so tough to read the menus.
Even though I’ve been living here a few years I can’t seem to read the menus. I really should learn to read kanji and my girl always tells me to learn but honestly I don’t know if it’s worth the time.
Anyway it’s ok because I can speak pretty well so when I got to this shop Togos Sushi today I had no trouble. To make a long story short they had the best tuna sashimi i have had in my 3 years in Japan. Seriously the best. The price was about $2US for 2 nice pieces.
I’ll be going there again with no questions in my mind…..damn sushi is good!
In Japan they have great hip hop and the culture is really alive. It’s cool for me to see since I’m a dj and I love that kind of dance music anyway. I have a funny story though. Kids here love Breakdancing near the train stations.
It’s kind of like they are showing off or something I’m not sure exactly but it’s cool. They can express themselves at night and make lots of noise without people complaining. They also have really cool styles. The clothes are expensive here but I must admit it looks great, no joke.
I have taken some great photos of these kids I hope to put up on the Blog soon so stay tuned. I can’t understand what they say but there dancing sure is cool!
So I woke up today. Feeling OK but I got in another fight with my girlfriend last night. I’m thinking that it’s the cultural difference between US and Japan. Anyway I really love her so I’m trying to iron those things out.
Today I decided to go to the gym. Haven’t gone for a while but when your mind is a bit stressed it’s always the best thing to do. So I’m going to go. The gym I go to is great and the people are really nice to me. They are all japanese people but they are so cool. I’ve made some good friends there and they are all into health so that’s cool too.
Sometimes after I work out there the gang invites me to go for drinks and food with them. It’s funny but people here go eat and drink after the gym session. Of course it depends on who you meet but these folks are healthy as I’ve ever seen and they still love eating and drinking. I guess it’s all healthy food so no problem for them….Let’s go!
